Brow Lift

Overview

Browlifts are typically performed on women who have lined, or stretched skin on the forehead or who have eyebrows that have fallen down. These conditions contribute to decreased space between the eyelids and the eyebrows.

Browlifts or forehead lifts can correct eyebrow drooping or heaviness which makes women look tired or feel older than their age. Often, a browlift is done in combination with other surgeries, like eyelid surgery or facelift.

What Can I Expect During Brow Lift Surgery?

Small incisions in the hair above the forehead allow access to alter the muscles above the eyes and to smooth lines and lift up the eyebrows, giving a more youthful appearance. Sutures are placed to hold the forehead skin and eyebrows in the new position. This procedure can be done with sedation in the office or in the OR with anesthesia depending on the amount of surgery or the comfort level of the patient.

How Long Will It Take For Me To Recover?

The swelling can last from five to ten days depending on the extent of the surgery and the post-operative care. Bruising may be present for five to fourteen days.

You will be allowed to walk and do some daily activities immediately after the surgery, but strenuous activity, cardio workouts and heavy lifting will be restarted under close supervision by Dr. Birchenough in three to four weeks- depending on how you are healing.

What Questions Should I Ask Dr. Birchenough?

  • “Should I get a eyebrow lift at the same time as eyelid surgery to improve the overall look of my upper face?”
  • “Are there any other types of procedures I can do to improve the lines on my forehead?”
